Well....early in the afternoon I woke up with my face buried into a sleeping bag with my legs squished against the wall. I put some underwear on after a brief discovery that I had somehow managed to get naked in the night, and rolled out of the small bedroom that I am staying in at the moment! I managed to piece together a few slices of toast with vegemite and proceeded to watch a kickass korean kung fu movie! A few hours later and after many intense conversations with my buddy Chris, a couple of fellow english teachers (Shawn and Jen) turned up to acquire numerous articles of use that wouldn't be accompanying Chris on his escapade around the globe. On seeing them out into the torrential downpour I happened to glance into the distance with wistful eyes and there they came to rest upon a huge column of fire that was growing larger with each second! "HOLY CRAP, CHECK IT OUT" i think is how it went! " SHIT" was the response! A few hurried good-byes and a quick dash down the street I arrived at the soccer feild and there in the middle was a tee-pee of burning wood surrounded by local koreans. Children dashed about with sticks to chuck onto the blaze and korean men respectfully poured makali (traditional korean alcohol made from rice). The fire raged on and danced about with the wind, singeing the eyebrows off children who ventured to close. I kept pounding back on the makali (what? free alcohol and it was 4 in the afternoon! Suites you sir!) and returning "hello's" to korean children who were fascinated by an overgrown hairy dude with long hair and bushy stuble! Once the fire started to die down and the makali put away, my enthusiasm started to fade so i proceeded to trudge back to the couch to continue watching the K1 fights on TV. All in all it was definately a sight worth seeing and a memorable day.
